Virtual Village

Virtual Village is a multiplayer online exhibition platform done for Singapore Games Week, including Games Com.

It was an interactive platform that showcased local game studios while providing a fun engaging space for people to explore and connect.

Art Direction

For Singapore Games Week and Gamescom Asia, we created an online multiplayer platform to bring the convention experience to people’s homes during the Covid lockdown. Since everyone was at home, we wanted to offer a fun and interactive space where users could explore exhibitor booths, just like they would in real life, but in a brighter and much more fun way.

To tie in with reality, we included a treasure hunt game within the platform. Players could search for clues and win prizes, and we also featured live streams of Gamescom Asia events to keep the excitement going.

As the Art Director, I led the visual design for the platform, with the art created by the art team at Lionfish Studios.

Avatar Customization

Before jumping into the game, players can personalize their avatars. We wanted this customization to be as fun and quirky as the vibrant world they’re about to explore, adding an extra layer of fun and personality to their experience.

Singapore Games Week

Gamescom Asia was a key part of Singapore Games Week, so we made sure to include details about it in our platform. We wanted to keep players in the loop and make sure they were aware of this important event!

Different Areas

Since this exhibition space was virtual, we embraced fantastical elements that you wouldn't find in a real-life setting, while still keeping it grounded with familiar, real-world elements.

The platform featured three distinct areas with very different themes. One showcased local traditional games from the past alongside current local game studio exhibitor booths, another area showcasing big studios was designed with fantastical things in mind, and a third was a lively party space for watching live streams.
